This is something that is quite important to me in a cookbook, and the first thing I noted when I cracked this one open was how few pictures there are. This revised and updated book is filled with an introduction on baking at home, the equipment needed, and all the different terminology. This means there is always something from the book you want to make as the recipes have great variety!

The original version of Mary Berry's Baking Bible (which is still available) uses metric measurements, so you need a scale, and requires a bit of translation for things like plain flour and caster sugar.Some tasty recipes in here- lots of excellent baking advice, the perfect book for the amateur baker to perfect there baking skills and to make some classic baked goods to a high standard. This is a beautifully put together updated compendium of baking recipes that is heavily weighted with British versions of desserts (teacakes and puddings and scones, oh my! If you’re a big a fan of Great British Bake Off as I am or just want to start getting into baking I could not recommend this book any more! Among the things that filled the second suitcase were hard to get, very expensive here but not in the UK items like Maldon salt, Billings sugars, stem ginger and golden syrup was a copy of Mary's first edition Mary Berry's Baking Bible. There are a variety recipes from: Classic Cakes, Spiced Cakes, Chocolate Treats, Cupcakes and other small goodies, Celebration Cakes, Special Cakes, Sheet Cakes, Baking for Children, Crackers and Cookies, Fancy Cookies, Tarts and Pastries, Breads, Fruit Loaves, Buns and Scones, Hot Puddings and Pies, Souffles and Meringues, and a whole Chapter just on Cheesecakes!

More than one recipe I found intriguing but I really wanted to see it to know if it truly was of interest. This is a beautifully produced book; heavy, thick, well made, with gorgeous photos and organized instructions. With 250 foolproof recipes, Mary Berry's Baking Bible has all the favourites, from Frosted Walnut Cake and Hot Chocolate Soufflés to The Very Best Shortbread, plus exciting new recipes - treat your friends and family to indulgent Brownie Loaves with White Choc Chip, moreish Paprika and Cheese Biscuits, a fabulous Rainbow Unicorn Cake, and much more.Cut each cherry in half then rinse in very hot water to remove the extra sugar syrup, then let them dry on paper towels before you add them to your cake.
